This post documents my experience on August 24, 2018.

Down 10th Street in Wyandotte, Michigan…

…you can find Our Lady of the Scapular Parish.

Formerly known as Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, this beautiful church…

…is the oldest Polish parish in Wyandotte…

…connected to the first settlement of Poles in the area…

…and host to the annual Polish Festival.

I entered the festival from 10th Street…

…as children took rides with horses…

…pet and fed animals…

…and helped John Davis with the viberaphone…

…and I only temporarily forgot the Polish festival theme when I saw the Mexican and Italian food tents out front…

…but as I walked deeper into the festival area…

…I immediately spotted the Polish Platters…

…that everyone seemed to be enjoying.

And while there were also other food options in the back area, like this pizza stand…

…most people either came to the Polish Kitchen windows…

…or this tent area…

…(which also served beer)…

…in the hopes of getting a Polish platter or other Polish delicacy…

…and I was scared I wouldn’t have enough time for one myself…

…especially when dealing with non-refundable food tickets.

Therefore, I continued on to the Big Tent…

…where there were games galore…

…with festival goers rolling dice and skee balls…

…pitching hoops and dimes…

…knocking down clowns…

…digging for treasure…

…trying to win groceries…

…or pulling suckers for handmade afghans.

And the games continued outside the tent with prize raffles…

…50/50 and cash raffles…

…instants…

…bingo…

…and Vegas games for the more serious gamblers.

But still there was more…

…with entertainment for the music lovers…

…free medals, rosaries and literature for the religious…

…plenty of stuff for those inclined to shop…

…including Polish Pride items…

…religious items…

…and an assortment of Polish pottery (Polish Pottery and Beyond)…

…and even this crazy booth…

…which sold a large assortment of bulk and packaged candy…

…getting adults and kids alike…

…super high (on sugar). :-)
