Upcoming Weekend Festivals: June 8-11, 2023

Mars New Year, an Alien Festival, Elvis and Bigfoot, plus more Strawberry, Pride, Art, and Music Festivals!

Welcome back, festival fans.

It’s another fantastic festival weekend. Each state has either the same or slightly more festivals than last week and, as you can see below, this weekend’s map is just bursting with pins.

As mentioned last weekend, the month of June is Pride Month, so there are still plenty of Pride Festivals in all but a handful of states. There are also all sorts of Music Festivals, Art Festivals, and Strawberry Festivals, particularly in the northern states.

Some of the more out-of-this-world festivals this weekend include Mars New Year in Mars, PA, where they celebrate the Red Planet’s 22 month trip around the sun (the festival happens every two years). Coincidentally, there is also an Alien Festival in North Carolina and the Superman Celebration – for a different kind of alien – in Metropolis, Illinois.

For some earthling-related festivals, there’s a Red Skelton Festival in Indiana, an Elvis Festival in Mississippi and a Bigfoot Festival in North Carolina (how many Bigfoot festivals do they have in North Carolina?).

I should also mention that there’s a festival in Wisconsin called Goat Fest and the Roofing of Goats Parade – sounds interesting.

If you love a food festival, there are some really good ones: Beer Cheese (KY), Gizzards (MI), Cereal (MI), Asparagus (MI), Pickles (MS), Pimento Cheese (NC), Pierogi (PA), Chicken Bog (SC), Pie (VA), Butter (WI), Rhubarb (WI) and Tacos (IL).

And, to go along with the food, there are tons of Cultural Festivals going on throughout the states, each with a collection of dishes that you would likely enjoy. Some of the cultures celebrated this weekend include Greek, Italian, Caribbean, Filipino, Brazilian, Scottish, German, Lithuanian, Romanian, Polish, African American, Native American, Irish, and Portuguese.

Many, many other festival themes going on this weekend celebrating Lighthouses, Fairies, Flowers, Rattlesnakes, Sugar Cane, Cigar Box Guitars, Rockets, Beer, Route 66 and so much more.

You’ll have to slowly comb through the lists below to fully appreciate everything going on.
