Picklesburgh and UFO’s, plus many Food and Music Festivals!
Dearest Festival Fans, this is a big festival weekend for me – mostly because I’ll get to finally check out two festivals I’ve been trying to visit for a number of years now:
Picklesburgh in Pittsburgh and the UFO Festival in Kecksburg (both in Pennsylvania). The former gets a lot of hype and usually has a big crowd as there’s a large pickle offering (brine iced tea, fried pickle chips, pickle pizza, pickle beer, pickle ice cream, etc.) while the latter seems like a quirky festival and I just love those types of festivals in general.
Before and after these festivals, I’ll be visiting a bunch of Cultural Festivals, of which there are many this weekend.
Just look down the list and you’ll see Asian, Colombian, Greek, Polish, Italian, Peruvian, Lebanese, Bangladeshi, Latino and Mediterranean Cultural Festival, each with delicious homemade and authentic delights to enjoy.
And, if you thought the dinner choices ended there – think again.
Festivals with Food Themes this weekend are also numerous, offering Ice Cream, Tacos, Bagels, Corn, BBQ, Tamales, Cheese, Baby Food, Blueberries, Peaches, Soda Pop, Shrimp, Grits, and Tomatoes.
Of course, as mentioned above, there are also Pickles.
So it’s a great festival weekend for eating.
But it’s also a great weekend for music and live entertainment!

Handy Music Festival (AL), City of Cumming Music Festival (GA), Electric Island EDM Festival (IL), Pitchfork Music Festival (IL), Abate of Indiana Boogie (IN), DC South Asian Music Fest (MD), Beaver Island Music Festival (MI), Hiawatha Traditional Music Festival (MI), Whirly Bird Music Festival (NY), Dapper Street Jazz Festival (NC), Squatchfest Music Festival (PA), Grits ‘n Grass Mountain Music Festival (SC), Belfast Music Festival (TN), Shenandoah Valley Music Festival (VA), Fling at the Springs Music Festival (WV), and Country Jam USA (WI).
So you have many possibilities to burn off the calories consumed from all the eating festivals.
It’s honestly a great overall festival weekend in the states of Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania with decent offerings in Indiana, Kentucky, Georgia, Western New York, Tennessee and Virginia.
