Music Festivals Galore, plus Beer, Goats, White Squirrels, Sugar and Saints.
It’s Memorial Day Weekend, festival fans, and it came so quickly this year.
There are festivals a-plenty but likely not as many as last weekend or even next weekend. It’s almost like there’s a slight dip to give room for plenty of other Memorial Day Celebrations that may not quite qualify as a festival (ie parades, Memorial Services, etc.).
Still, there are some really great-sounding festivals going on throughout the states.
Let’s talk about what’s coming up…
First off, if you like Music Festivals, this is a great weekend for that. Just about every state has one or more music festivals, ranging from the Beatles-inspired Abbey Road on the River in Indiana and the Woodstock Music Festival in (Woodstock) Alabama to the Atlanta Jazz Festival in Georgia and the Native Dawn Flute Gathering in Kentucky.
If you like critter festivals, there’s White Squirrel Weekend in North Carolina, the Farm Animal Frolic in Pennsylvania, the Horseshoe Crab and Shorebird Festival in Delaware, the Blue Crab Festival in Florida, Morocco Beaver Fest in Indiana, the Punxsutawney Groundhog Festival in Pennsylvania, the Flopeye Fish Festival in South Carolina, Goat Fest in Mississippi, some Dog Festivals and even 2 Brews at the Zoo.
Speaking of Brew, there are at least 10 Beer Festivals this weekend.
You can also be sure to find many Food and Food Truck Festivals, Art Festivals, Cultural Festivals, Family Festivals, a few Flower Festivals, a Sugar Festival, Hot Air Balloon Festivals, and even a special festival in Jessup, Pennsylvania…
…called the Saint Ubaldo Day “Running of the Saints.”
This festival takes place on Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend and involves a race of three teams, each carrying the seated saint statue (Ubaldo, Giorgio, Antonio) through the town of Jessup. The only other town that has this festival is the sister city of Gubbio, Italy.
