Tons of festivals where temperatures are cooler in the North.
Welcome back, festival fans.
We’ve just had a great non-stop week of festivals, thanks to many 4th of July festivals running Monday July 3 and Tuesday July 4.
This weekend, many festivals are actually starting July 5, so festivals are not stopping at all. This is especially true in the Northern States, where festival season is at a peak. States like Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin are hosting the bulk of festivals this weekend as states further south may have anything from 2-10 festivals (it’ll pick up for them later).
Look to the map and see the stark difference between the various states.
Still, there are many interesting offerings all around.
In the south, Florida has the Sponge Docks Arts and Crafts Festival in Tarpon Springs; there’s a Cobb Tasting Festival in Marietta, Georgia; the Slugburger Festival is going on in Mississippi; all sorts of festivals – Highland Games, Coon Dog Day, Bluegrass and BBQ – are going on in North Carolina; there’s a Peach Festival in Tennessee; and there’s a Horse and Hound Wine Festival in Virginia.
Now let’s look at the offerings up north…
ILLINOIS: Windmill City Festival in Batavia, Balloons Over Vermilion, St. Spyridon Greek Festival in Palos Heights, the Hungarian Gulyas Festival in Norridge.
INDIANA: National Powwow in Danville, Three Rivers Festival in Fort Wayne, St. Maria Goretti Italian Festival in Westfield
KENTUCKY: Carlisle Blackberry Festival, Berea Craft Festival and BG Wine Festival
MARYLAND/DC: Romanian Weekend on the Wharf, Westminster Pride Festival, and the Maryland German Festival in Timonium
MICHIGAN: National Cherry Festival, Elsie Dairy Festival, Bluegill Festival, Michigan ElvisFest, Weidman Sawmill Days, Black Arts Festival and Hippie Fest in the Village – I’m pretty excited about Michigan!
NEW YORK: Pirates Festival at Krull Park, Macedonian Festival in Blasdell, Taste of Buffalo and the NY Lavender Festival in Red Creek.
PENNSYLVANIA: Panegyri Greek Festival, Whiskey Rebellion Festival, the Tinicum Arts Festival, and TacoFest at SheetStacks.
WEST VIRGINIA: John Henry Days, New Deal Festival and the Ohio Valley Pride Festival.
WISCONSIN: Art Festival on/off the Square, Kenosha Pride, and the Bristol Renaissance Faire
