Several states pick up their festival numbers, making it Summer Official!
I’m really excited to share this weekend’s festival news as several states are obviously now entering festival season. The states that really show a difference this weekend are Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, and Wisconsin. This will continue throughout the month (and possibly beyond) as many of the southern states will ease off a little until the fall brings back cooler festival-hopping weather.
But the festival offerings are great in all the states this weekend with a delicious Livermush Festival in North Carolina, a fun Dolly Fest in Tennessee, a 10-day long Three Rivers Art Fest in Pennsylvania, three Greek festivals in New York, a Sturgeon Festival in Michigan, a Brass Band Festival in Kentucky, a Kurt Vonnegut Jr.-inspired festival in Indiana, and Vulcan’s Birthday Bash in Alabama.
Plus there are Food Festivals (Blueberry, Watermelon, Mac and Cheese, Peach, Rhubarb, Milk, Horseradish, Honey), Flower Festivals (Lavender, Hydrangea, Rose, Lilac, Peony), Critter Festivals (Mule, Chicken, Honeybees, Warblers, White Squirrel, Black Bear, Mammoth, Little Owl, Carp) and all sorts of festivals celebrating music, art, history, communities, cultures and more.
Be sure to take a good, hard look at the lists below and check out everything offered this weekend – because there are plenty of great festivals. And don’t forget the map.
Really – don’t forget the map.
I know it looks cluttered/congested but just zoom in to your town and see what’s around you (keeping in mind that some cities have more than one festival). Also remember that nearby festivals may be in other states.
Here’s what I would consider in each state…

Georgia
Flying Colors Butterfly Festival (Roswell), Georgia Peach Festival (Fort Valley)
