Festivals pick up in most states with more cultural and music festivals.
If your state had only a few festivals last weekend, there should be more this weekend. But, if your state had a ton of festivals, there may be slightly less this weekend. It balances out overall.
There’s a little over 260 festivals this weekend.
The big theme this weekend tends to be the cultural or ethnic festival, which really seem to take over in Illinois, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin. That should call for some good eating!
There are also a lot of Music Festivals going on, Beer and Wine Festivals, the start of the Oktoberfests and a lot more.
For you Cryptid Fans, I should point out the UFO Days Festival in Alabama and Bigfoot Festival in Tennessee.

Let’s now take a closer look at each of the states this weekend:
Alabama
I’d be excited about the Fyffe UFO Days. There’s also a Folk Festival in Birmingham and a Vintage Market Days (Review of Ohio Version) in Mobile.
Florida
Key West is having a Whiskey Festival while there’s a Rum and Seafood Festival in Lutz. Dog lovers can take their companions to the National Dog Day Festival in Neptune Beach.
Georgia
The Georgia Mountain Fair continues in Hiawassee while there is also the Braselton Antique and Artisan Festival, a Vintage Market Days (Review of Ohio Version) in Perry and the Cobb County International Festival in Marietta.
Illinois
Festivals around St. Louis and then from Springfield and up, celebrating Corn in DeKalb, the Irish Culture in Peoria, Ribs in Staunton and then all sorts of Cultural Festivals in the Chicago area: Pakistani, Ukrainian, Egyptian, Armenian, Romanian and Greek.
Indiana
Festivals are all over the state with all sorts of Music Festivals (Morgantown, West Lafayette, Greencastle, Rochester), a Pork Fest in Kouts, Festival Latino in Vincennes, a Renaissance Festival in Mishawaka, a Tomato Festival in Pierceton and a Swiss Wine Festival in Vevay.
Kentucky
The festivals are really spread throughout the state this weekend. Some of the more interesting ones include the Cloverport Sacajawea Festival, the Buttermilk Days Festival in Bardstown, the Garrard County Rural Heritage Tobacco Festival in Lancaster and the Old Lou Brew Craft Beer Festival in Louisville.
Michigan
It’s another week where I’ve been to some of this weekend’s festivals, including the Taste of Greece Festival (Review) in Plymouth, Dragon on the Lake (Review) in Lake Orion, Our Lady of the Scapular Polish Summer Festival (Review) in Wyandotte, the Lincoln Park Days Festival (Review), the Ss. Cyril and Methodius Slovak Festival (Review) in Sterling Heights and the Cider Dayze Festival (Review) in Armada.
There are also the Porcupine Mountains Music Festival in Ontonagon, the Sun Dried Music Festival in Mason, the Midland Folk Music Festival, the Cedar Polka Festival, the Blues by the Bay Festival in East Tawas and the Mackinac Island Fudge Festival (for the energy to dance at all the previously mentioned music festivals).
New York
Another weekend of cultural festivals: GUSTO! Italian Festival in Endicott, the Bravo Italiano Festival in Watertown, an Egyptian Festival in North Tonawanda, a Germanfest in Attica, the South Buffalo Irish Festival and Ukrainian American Day in Buffalo.
North Carolina
More festivals than last weekend. Some interesting ones include the Winterville Watermelon Festival, the Smoky Mountain Folk Festival in Lake Junaluska, the Festival of India in Charlotte and WoodMill Winery’s Grape Stomp Festival in Vale.
Pennsylvania
Most of the festivals are along Pennsylvania’s Western Border and around Pittsburgh this weekend, including the Zabawa Polish Summer Festival in Erie, the Butler Italian Festival, the St. Georgia Greek Festival in New Castle, the Kinzua Heritage Arts and Music Festival in Russell and the Mountain Spirit Pow Wow at Mason Dixon Park in Mt. Morris.
South Carolina
Some great eating this weekend with the Awendaw Blue Crab Festival, and the Main Street Latin Festival in Columbia. Wash it all down at the Grape Stomp Festival in Wadmalaw Island.
Tennessee
The state has a good mix with cultural festivals with Cherokee Heritage Day in Elizabethton, an International Food Festival in Morristown and German, Indian, AND Asian festivals all in Knoxville. There’s also a Blooming Onion in Cleveland a Bigfoot Festival in Morristown.
West Virginia
If you have a sweet tooth, there’s a Cupcake Festival in Hurricane and a Honey Festival in Parkersburg. Healthier eaters can check out the Veg Fest in Morgantown.
Wisconsin
A nice selection of festivals from Corn Festivals (Loyal, Forest Junction) to Cultural festivals(German in West Bend, Serbian in Milwaukee, Egyptian in Oak Creek, Mexican in Milwaukee). There are also some music festivals, beer/wine fests and even a Rutabaga Festival in Cumberland.
