Over 400 Festivals this weekend celebrating Bananas, Pierogi, Fried Green Tomatoes, Tacos, Cannabis and more.
You only need to take one look at the map below to see that this is a super festival weekend. The pins are all bunched together like a beautiful floral bouquet and, while the majority of the festivals are still fairly concentrated in the north, there’s quite a bit going on all over.
With more than 400 festivals this weekend, you can be sure to find all sorts of Art Festivals, Music Festivals, Fall Festivals and City Celebrations.
And there are also festivals with more unique themes this weekend, including a festival about Laura Ingalls Wilder in Wisconsin, Doc Holliday in Georgia, Bananas in Kentucky, Pierogi in Pennsylvania, Lionfish in Florida, Cornbread in Indiana, Collards in North Carolina and Cowpeas in Tennessee.
There’s really too many to mention, but we can take a quick look at each state and I’ll share those that grabbed my attention…
Alabama
Most festivals are around Birmingham with a few up in the northern part of the state. Festivals celebrate the Harvest Moon in Bessemer and Birmingham, Art in Birmingham, Fayette and Huntsville, Music in Huntsville and Dothan and Various Communities like Trussville and Leesburg.
Florida
An interesting collection of festival themes, including Beer, Spicy Foods, Women and Lionfish.
Georgia
The Helen Oktoberfest starts up this weekend as they celebrate the Doc Holliday Festival in Griffin, the Native American Festival in Indian Springs, the Yellow Daisy Festival in Stone Mountain and the Atlanta Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in Gainesville.
Illinois
From Lena down to Cairo, festivals run all along the state of Illinois. Some festivals to look at include Popcorn Days in Ridgway, the El Paso Corn Festival, the Lincoln Park Gyros Fest, the Broomcorn Festival in Arcola, Cannabis Camp in West Peoria, the Naper Pride Fest, the Printer’s Row Lit Fest in Chicago, Mum Fest in Clinton and the Scandinavian Day Festival in South Elgin.
Indiana
It would be hard not to find a festival in Indiana, as they look to be everywhere. I would be interested in checking out the Columbus Scottish Festival, the Valparaiso Popcorn Festival, the Mansfield Village Cornbread Festival in Carbon, the Moon and Stars Festival in Henryville, the Tipton County Pork Festival and the New Palestine Fall Festival.
Kentucky
Fulton’s Banana Festival starts up this weekend and there’s also the Trimble County Apple Festival in Bedford, Nolinfest in Leitchfield, the Louisville Pagan Pride Day, the Poppy Mountain Bluegrass Festival in Morehead, the Lawrence County Septemberfest in Louisa and the Appalachian Moonshine, Music and Makers Festival in Pikeville.
Michigan
There are some Michigan festivals I would love to see in person, like the Posen Potato Festival, the Kalamazoo Scottish Festival and Highland Games, the County Oakland Irish Fest in Berkley, the U.P. Fall Beer Festival in Marquette and the Emerald Isle Irish Feile on Beaver Island.
New York
Enjoy some food festivals this weekend with a Peach Festival in Lewiston and a Tomato Festival in Auburn. There are also Irish Festivals in Syracuse and Elmira, an Indian Festival in Vestal, a Lumberjack Festival in Macedon and all sorts of Music, Autumnal and Art Festivals.
North Carolina
A nice variety of festivals! There’s a Wizard of Oz Festival in Beech Mountain, a Dirty Dancing Festival in Lake Lure, an Acorn Festival in Four Oaks, a Collard Festival in Ayden, a Honey Festival in Whiteville and a Hot Sauce Festival in Oxford. Also plenty of Music Festivals.
Pennsylvania
Pittsburgh has a lot going on with a Pierogi Festival in West Mifflin, both Ukrainian Food (Review) and Lebanese Festivals in Carnegie, the Pittsburgh Irish Festival (Review) and a Taco Festival in Pittsburgh proper. There are some other festivals I’ve been to, including Mountain Craft Days (Review) in Somerset and the Farmers and Threshermens Jubilee (Review) in New Centerville
South Carolina
The South Carolina Apple Festival is in Westminter this weekend, along with SpartOberfest in Spartanburg and the South Carolina Tobacco Festival in Lake City.
Tennessee
Check out the International Cowpea Festival and Cook-off in Charleston, the Mountaineer Folk Festival in Spencer, the International Goat Days Festival in Millington and the Tennessee Soybean Festival in Martin. The Middle Tennessee Celtic Festival in Nashville also looks cool.
West Virginia
The Charleston Ribfest Regatta is this weekend in Dunbar along with the Wheeling Wine Festival and the Black Heritage Festival in Clarksburg.
Wisconsin
Some food festivals celebrate Tacos in Milwaukee, Watermelon in Pardeeville, Fondue in Fond du Lac and BBQ in Montello. There’s also the Volksfest German Ethnic Festival in Waupun, Laura Ingalls Wilder Days in Pepin and Sputnikfest in Manitowoc.

It’s a huge and wonderful collection of festivals, so please go the lists carefully and use both the reviews and map to help you.
