Even more St. Patrick’s Day Festivals and an…er…Testicle Festival?
The St. Patrick’s Day Festivals continue Thursday and this weekend in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wisconsin. But, even if your state isn’t having a bonafide Irish festival this weekend, there will be plenty of restaurant/bar/community Irish celebrations going on. Just drink responsibly and plan ahead for a ride home.
Big festival states this weekend are Alabama, Florida, and Georgia with festival selections that include Fried Chicken Festivals, Italian Festivals, Seafood Festivals, and Cherry Blossom Festivals.
But, if you’re looking for something a little different, there’s a festival in southern Michigan offering a very unique food option – Rocky Mountain Oysters. Of course, this is only a euphemism for bull testicles that are cleaned, sliced, battered and deep fried, which the festival serves with chicken gizzards, baked beans, coleslaw and a roll. Honestly, the food at this annual Testicle Festival is quite delicious. There is also some DJ music/entertainment and a lot of tongue in cheek fun at this smaller festival, but it’s worth checking out if you are anywhere nearby.
